About the event
The 2022 Halloween Hayride is only a few days away (Saturday, October 29th)! As a reminder, this event is intended for VIA members and their immediate family. Please see below for event logistics. Bear with us, it’s long, but hopefully provides all the information you need to prepare. Schedule:
· 1:45 - 2:00 pm: DRIVERS meet at TBA to load hay in trailers
· 2:30 pm: Participants arrive at park to sign waiver and load on trailers
· 3:00 pm: Trailers depart park to begin Hayride
· 4:00 pm/ish: Post-hayride Party (Rodney's Jamaican Grill Food Truck) and Costume Contest
What to bring:
· A blanket to sit on so you aren't sitting directly on the hay bails
· Candy bag to collect all your goodies
· Bug spray in case the bugs come out
· Light sweater or jacket in case it gets a little cool
· Water or other drinks in case you get thirsty (adult beverages are allowed) :-)
What to Expect: When you arrive at the park, you will need to check in and sign the waiver. Once you have done that, you can find a space on a trailer and get settled. It usually takes about an hour to get around the island. Everyone will stay on the trailer for the duration and our generous candy houses will come around the trailer, so no kids are getting on/off in the street. We’ll end at the park to continue the celebration. Post Hayride Party Plan to stay at the park for a post-hayride party with your neighbors and a costume contest for the kids. We will have a food truck (Rodney's Jamaican Grill) available. All riders will also be able to vote on their favorite stop to award one of our fabulous candy houses with a prize! Candy Houses More information will come to help with planning your candy supply. Adult treats are always appreciated as well, but certainly not required. As long as you are outside, they will stop for you (even if you aren't on the map). :-) We will also have a prize for the best candy stop this year. All riders will be asked to vote on their favorite stop when they return to the park and the winning house will win a prize. You are all welcome to meet us at the park for the after party as well. Please come help us continue the celebration and see if you won the prize! What We Still Need: ·Decorating: We will be decorating the park on Saturday morning starting at 10:30 a.m. If you are available and would like to help, please stop by. ·Welcome Table: If someone is available to help sign people in and coordinate the waivers at sign in, please let me know. ·Judges: If you are interested in being an (unbiased) judge, please let me know as I’ll need a few. ·Food/Drinks for Party: Please bring your own drinks to the party. There will be a food truck with food and some drinks available for purchase. ·Safety Car: If anyone is interested/willing to follow the last trailer in their car for safety that would be great. We make frequent stops and travel slowly and it was suggested that we have a car follow to help with cars that may come speeding around the corners. If you have any questions, please call or text us. We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday for another fun Halloween Hayride!
